Revitalash Review

Using old cosmetics can be unsafe.  Contaminated cosmetics can cause certain types of infection and should be disposed of and replaced.

Research done in the UK found that less than 29 percent of women dispose of old makeup when it becomes discoloured or passes the expiration date.

A beauty analyst for the research firm Alexandra Richmond stated that cosmetics like eyelash mascara and eyeliner can increase the chance of an eye infection, and should be disposed of just like old food.  She went on to say that “Like food, cosmetics can expire and become dangerous to use.  There may be far more lurking at the bottom of your makeup bag than old dried up mascara”.

Grow Eylashes That Are Longer and Stronger

Flirtatious girls “bat their eyelashes”.  Eyelashes are the frames for your big beautiful eyes.  You want to help grow eyelashes that are not only longer, but stronger.  Eyelashes that enhance your eyes.  If you’re not blessed with long, thick, strong eyelashes, take heart.  There are ways you can enhance your lashes.

You can use eyelash extensions.  This is a quick solution, but is a little bit of a bother.  It takes time to apply lash extensions and to make sure they are positioned properly.  The eyelash adhesive can cause some irritation and may actually affect the health of  your natural eyelashes, compounding the problem.  If you have weak lashes, they may break or become brittle with extended use of the false ones.

You can make some dietary changes to strengthen your hair in general, which affects your eyelash health.  Eating a nutritionally balanced diet affects your hair from the inside out and provides a lasting fundamental change which will make you look and feel healthier.

There are also products out their designed to grow eyelashes either by supporting your bodies natural processes, through the use of certain pharmaceuticals which have been found to stimulate hair growth.

Some eyelash growth products like Lilash an Latisse, both good, medically proven products, use prostoglandins that are sometimes used to treat glaucoma.  Doctors noticed that glaucoma patients using these products had enhanced, stronger, longer eyelashes.  When used for the purpose of eyelash growth, they are not put into the eye, but only as a topical above the upper eyelash.  They are applied like eyeliner.

The key is to use a multiple step approach.  A change in diet, with the addition of a quality eyelash growth product.  You don’t have to rule out fake eyelashes either.  If you grow eyelashes that are  longer and stronger they will provide better support for your false eyelashes without breaking or becoming brittle.

Do Products Like Latisse Really Grow Eyelashes

Latisse has had a lot of press lately. Latisse contains a drug called Bimatiprost, which is a prostoglandin used in the treatment of glaucoma. As a nurse, I can tell you that doctors have observed the changes in the eyelashes of glaucoma patients for a while. People undergoing treatment for glaucoma definitely have long and beautiful lashes. There are side effects however including darkening of the skin, and irritation that can be anywhere from mild to serious.

Latisse is used just like eyeliner and is applied to the eyelash line usually in the evening before bed. . Many report the irritation goes away after a few days. The product itself ranges from $120 to $150 for a 60 day supply. The benefits stop when usage stops. You need to keep it up to maintain the effect, and it is technically a daily use product. A prescription is required to obtain this product.

Lilash Vs. Latisse

Mascara. You know you just can’t get along without it. Dig through your purse, you know it’s in there. Since the release of a product called Latisse which is made by Allergan, there has been an absolute deluge of eyelash conditioners and eyelash enhancement products. Some, like LiLash have been around for a while, but now the spotlight has been placed on them.

The big deal with Latisse, is that it requires a prescription. It contains a medication called Bimatoprost, a prostoglandin which is used in the treatment of cataracts. Latisse was approved by the FDA for the treatment of Hypotrichosis (lack of hair growth). Requiring a prescription doesn’t really make it any better (although it is a good product, without a doubt), it just makes it harder to get.

These products aren’t cheap. Comparing the price of Lilash vs Latisse at about $140 for a 60 day supply of Latisse and LiLash at about $140 for a 3-4 month supply, I think the LiLash is a better value. It’s easy to apply, and goes on like any liquid eye liner, with results in about 4-6 weeks (although some have reported results in as little as 2 weeks).

Another advantage of LiLash is that once results have been achieved, you can reduce the usage to only 2 to three times a week.
